ice newbie..

im a newbie to the world of ice but i have a few questions, iv just purchased 2 JBL gt4 15inch subs as seen at http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/product_info.php+products_id+1391http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/product_info.php+products_id+1391 (didnt pay that) and have been thinking of doing an ice install.

anyway basically i was wonderin, im going to be having some MDF sloping down from the top of the seat to the bottom where the boot catch is all sealed. then with the two subs sunk into it one on each side with some mdf seperating them down the middle . . is this going to be ok them using the boot space as their enclosure what kind of sound would i get or what else should i do?? (completely new to this ICE stuff with it being the first time iv purchased new ICE)

and another thing is, im about to purchase an amp to run these 2 subs . . in the shop where i purchased these he said it would be better to get an amp that runs either 2 or 4ohms . . thing is i cant remember what he said, which one would it of been? pretty sure he said 2??

thanks.

amp wise u need something thatll do atleast 500Watts RMS @ 2ohms. otherwise youll be underpowering the subs.

As for an enclosure for the subs, they prob are best going in a sealed enclosure, you shouldve been told on the sub manual/leaflet about a size of enclosure, measured in cubic feet.

i.e My 10" subs said they need an internal volume inside an enclosure of 1.25cuft.

There are box size calculators on the net, im sure someone will post a link to one.

Also building enclosures for both, if you build 1 box, big enough for both, remember to put a dividing wall inside, and seal it properly, otherwise the subs will be sharing the same air space, which isnt totally ideal.

ok been looking at amps, one im looking at will be 880w rms (4 x 220 rms), would that be better to run it at that and slightly under power the sub (avoid blowing it etc) or should i look around some more and find an amp with 2 x 250rms?? surely the difference in 30 rms wouldnt really be noticeable?

as for the box, just been looking for a calculator and havnt been able to find a decent one so hoping someone could post one up. cheers in advance.

i have a amp for sale that would run them its a genises p sub runs about 600w rms @ 2 ohms
