Ignition coil probs Mk2 V6

Hi, a few months ago I had a prob with bad misfire, into Renault, turnos out its a faulty coil, replaced under warranty. Yesterday, same prob, diagnosed again as faulty coil (so only another 4 to go!).

Question is, is this a common prob with clios (V6 of not) cos ive never had this prob with any other car (ive had a few) and its out of warranty in 6 months - dont fancy stumping up £100 every few months.

Cheers

very common with the V6's all the boys tend to replace the coils with Trophy items to solve the problem, but i think they're about £80/£90 each!

cheers, reckon im going to pester renault uk to replace the full set for me since its obviously a common problem.

the worst thing is they arent in stock at RUK at the moment so looks like im getting a hire car for the foreseeable future - something tells me it wont be a v6...

Renault told me this was a common problem when I had my 2001 1.4 Sport!!!! I didn't know at the time there were 4 so I was fairly fucked off to have the same problem happen when the second two went (as far as I was concerned, the faulty parts were replaced the first time) and have an undriveable car and be stuck out on my own... totally crap, they should replace the lot if they know it to be a common problem...

Yup - very common problem. Some of the V6 owners have complained to Renault about the frequency of the failures but they don't seem bothered!

When I had one go, I had them all changed, that way you should be good for 10k miles at least.

However the Trophy coils are the permanent fix - talk to SG Motorsport in Chippenham, as they supply them at comparable cost to the standard set.
