Ill fitting exhaust- mk2 ph1 K7M engine

My exhaust is blowing on the downpipe- manifold join. It has had a new manifold before but it is now blowing again, the exhaust seems to have made a groove on the d ring and it wont seal. Is this a common problem? Cheers Marco
