Immobiliser Questio...

  Mr2 Roadster

Can anyone tell me how the immobiliser on the 97 Rsi works briefly… When it cuts in what does it cut off the coil or the fuel pump. I was just wondering because if it leaves the fuel pump on then it’s flooding the CAT with unburnt fuel?
Please can someone set my curious mind at rest!

Its odd.. sometimes my engine starts then cuts out with the standard immobilser, sometimes it just doesnt turn over..

I dont have a coil on mine though, so maybe mines different.

yeah it work through the ecu i think,me n clean16v had problems when we swapped ecus basicly your em sends a code to your ecu and it tells your ecu not to start even though u can still turn it over why u having problems with yours quite often?

I own an RSi and its worth pointing out that it might not always be the immoboliser IF you ever have problems with the car starting. The RSi is very prone to the starter motor cable coming lose. All it needs to fix it is for the wire to be crimped!

My 1997 had Starter motor probs.. very bad.. no bushes in the end! The centre spinning bit (technical!) wasnt held in by anything and was at an angle! No wonder it didnt start everytime and when it did sounded mega rough.

Got a new Starter, and it sounds mint!
