Independant inspector to look at a 182 for me, London Area.

  Clio 182 FF & Cups
Hi guys, long time since I've posted on here and I'm looking for some advice and help.

I'm trading my current vehicle to a independant dealer. (who is also a forum member on here) and taking one of his motors. Due to various reasons I'm going from a 14month old 197 I bought new to a 55 plate 182 FF with cup packs.

I'm a little outta practice when it comes to looking over used vehicles (always bought new in the last 10 years) and I don't want to buy a pup. I'm sure it won't be but I've not even seen it yet so Im nervous. Plus I once bought a Nova I thought was perfect only to find it'd been rear ended at some point!!

Can anyone recommend an inspection service to me or suggest a
a specialist or garage in South London that'd give it the once over for me? Anything I need to pay close attention to? (engine mounts, rear shocks, exhaust aside).

Cheers for any help guys.

I don't know if he does this sort of thing but "steve murr" has down that he's a Renaultsport specialist and is from bexleyheath. If he does do that kinda thing, fire him a PM, offer him a few beer tokens and maybe he shall.

Sorry if this isn't your thing steve

Put you specs on Grandad! ;) I suppose it frees up some funds.

Yeah I'm just about to move house, need to free some cash up so i don't end up in debt, other than the mortgage anyway!

Plus I change cars often anyway. Since 2006 I've had a 172, valver, 225 + 197. seems only fair to give a 182 a crack, or a Vee! Can you strap a baby seat to the engine?! :)

Where abouts in South London mate? I'm local and wouldn't mind taking my brother along one day (he's a Renault Mechanic) to have a look.

I've read some horror stories about AA inspections, I'd rather use someone with a bit of brand knowledge.

Steve is a proper guy and doesn't sell s**t. I can assure you the car will be as close to mint as possible.

I navigate the 'big smoke' via football grounds and steve tells the nearest ground is Charlton. I'll try to dig up a post code.

If your brother wouldn't mind taking a look I'd see him right! ;). I'm collecting the car next Friday if all goes to plan.

I'm sure it will be. However I just want a little piece of mind. I appreciate the cars with 43k on them will however have a degree of wear and tear.

Don't want to miss any consumable things that'll sting me with a big bill in the short term as I'm paying top money for a 182 and the while reason for the change is to econamise (sp?).

Oh... Charlton is one hell of a journey for us! I was hoping you'd say somewhere around Croydon, Wimbledon, Streatham, Tooting... Charlton FC is about 1.5 hour drive for us mate and I doubt he'd be able to get up there before next friday as he works on a Sunday and is taking his mrs and kid to London Zoo on the Sunday.

Sorry mate.

Don't the AA offer some sort of warranty if they miss something? Why not ask him if you can book it into the nearesr Renault dealer for a healthcheck? I know we (Vauxhall) do them free, plus at this time of year when work is scarce, they'll pick up on every little item, trust me lol
