Induction kit

  05 Clio 182 cup
Anyone got the powertec induction kit been lookin for a kit and liked the look of this one , but just looking to see if there any good really and how is the sound? Or is the itg maxogen worth saving the extra penny's for ? Would be looking to run it with de cat , s / s exhaust , cam upgrade and re map eventually cheers Bryan

I have the Powertec and I find it very good, think I have left a comment on the k tec website about it......

If you just want noise then any open induction kit will do that mate, all will give the same results though which is normally a loss in power.

A panel filter, matched inlet manifold and a custom remap would make a difference

Everybody says panel filter but don't the standard paper filters actually flow air better? Albeit panel filters are reusable which is good.

id wait for the new ktec one that goes right behind the headlight, prototypes have seen good gains. i had a maxogen, waste of money imo, same noise by removing both air feeds in my ph1 airbox and no noticeable difference in power either, u must be mental to pay 380 for a maxogen, i picked one up second hand for 200, sold it for more.

no the new one thats an open cone filter behind the headlight, its not an airbox. pics are on facebook on their blog after someone on here had 438's and the prototype filter fitted with excellent gains.

I have an itg maxogen, the noise it gives is really good, and get air from the coldest part of the engine bay, as for any power gains....very unlikely, just sounds more powerful

I am one of these 'someone's. tank is the other one. We had 438's fitted, with cams but without induction it ran 186bhp, with k-Tec induction prototype and mapping (with the cams) again to suit, it ran 197 bhp. Tanks ran 203 bhp.

That is awesome, I was looking into these cams, would you say they have a big improvement in the way it goes? I'm getting one of the IK as soon as they are available too!

Incy-Spider, I have found the cams have given a huge improvement, but instead of going off topic - check out these threads for more info / RR graphs etc;

In terms of the induction kit, most add little to no benefit other than noise. The K-Tec one, with cams, certainly seems to add power (oh and yes, the noise is nice too ;))

Cheers buddy!

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
Tried the new Ktec induction the other day. Made over 7bhp difference from a ph1 airbox, and an average of 5bhp over the entire rev range. Also tried a maxogen and it gained slightly less

Seems £60 can build you something pretty cool -

Exactly this, level of stupidity on this forum is slowly going up. People paying a premium for a KTec name on stuff when it can be made your self for less than half price!

For the last ten years nobody has made any decent gains from a filter, most were said to then found out they didn't, I imagine this is no different.

Although prove me wrong I'd love to see a comparison between a few again now there are new methods around.

As for this funnel inside the filter that only adds an extra £10 to the cost, can easily be made up.

Id rather keep the standard setup and not worry about sucking any water in - 306gti-6's have that issue as the filter is relocated in the same way
