Induction Querey

Car  RenaultSport clio 172
No doubt you've heard this before but I as wondering..... I have a universal induction kit that I took of my old golf GTI and now have on my 172, its sat there in the engine compartment quite happy. Is it really worth getting all the induction piping to feed cold air directly into it? does it really make much of a difference?

Because its actually very efficient.

ok which is actually better, the induction kit, or original intake? I'm fairly new to all this, and im allready confused lol:S

Std airbox with an ITG pannel.
Failing that An ITG Maxogen.

Open filters or indeed a viper are sketcy in terms of performace. Most require a remap to reep the full benefits.

ok thanks, what are the advantages/disadvantages with the 2 types?:)

there would beblike 1bhp in both, and the maxogen is like 400notes, so get a 35quid itg pannel filter bang it in the stock box n ur sorted m8 :)

Cheers, sounds good, so whats all the hullabaloo about inductors? do they improve performance and econemy, or is it just marketing at play?...or is it just the noise people like?

lol they make fuel economy worse...but they just add that nice induction sound, thats the only benefit :)

They can if used correctly give you a couple of break more.. but nothing you will major;y notice.. howver they do sound bitchin :D

I have one on my 172 now, and yes the sound is great, im just unsure as to whether I should get some induction hosing to lead to it, or after what ive read here, refit the original box :S confused...you will be lol, btw I just converted from a golf gti to my 172, and I love it!

If you really like the induction noise then just slap one or even two direct cold air feeds direct to the filter. At least in the cold weather you'll still be fine, and shouldn't suffer in the summer too much from heat-soak this way. :)
