inlet mod

hi everyone. I am very interested in having my inlet manifold matched on my totally standard 172 cup but after loads of reading on here I'm still slightly unsure as to whether any other alterations NEED to be made.
I'm not bothered about masive power increases but am aware that the production accuracy of manifolds can vary and I just like the idea of having my car in optimum condition.
My limited knowledge was that the electronics would sense and make adjustments for any increase in air flow.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for reply fredY
I've sort of picked up on this allready but I was trying to determine if I actually NEEDED to have a remap done and if i DIDN'T-
A- would it still be worth having my inlet matched ?.
B- Would my car work ok or could it be damaged in any way ?.
As I said my knowledge is poor on this and any advice is welcome.

you're best speaking to BenR (Angelworks head honcho) and paul at RS tuning

its only a minor amount of material thats being removed, i doubt any damage would occur if you didn't get the car mapped, but to see best results a remap would be suggested

It'll run without a remap fine, so long as you havent got a multitude of other modification on. However, a remap by RStuning does make a world of difference as your not only accounting for the manifold modification, but the initial compramises on the OE map.

Thanks for all this .
benr/stan im obviously happy for the inlet mod because as I said Im just wanting to optimize what i've allready got (standard).
Is this the same when you talk about remapping i.e. is it a case of adjusting/optimizing the original parts (ecu or whatever).

hey guys this is my first post/reply, been lurking on the forums for a week or so now and though nows the time to be brave and type :) , to cut a long story short... delievry of my 172 cup tommra and have alreay been looking at ways to improve or should i say optamise the performance of the car...

however im a little dense when it comes to cars so on a totally standard 172 cup would the above modifcations manifold and remap yeild much difference over stock, and also would they need to be declared on insurance?

cheers all

  Car SOLD :-(
Technically should be declared. SHOULD been the operative word. I won't tell if you don't!!!!:D

Quality, however what about the performance gains over stock?

Depends on how bad a cast your standard manifold is, think if anything the car will rev more freely once its been matched

As said depends how bad say 10hp
So if i have the inlet mod done and the remap, what can i realistically be looking at in perfomance increase? will it have a negetive effect on fuel ecomony?

10hp or so but your only at 166 stock anyway.

MPG won't be affected if anyhting might be better as mapping is more accurate. Only negative s if you use the extra power more.
