Insurance for 17yr old

Right, im looking at buying a Clio off a member on here. Its a 1.2 1999 so MK2, its got rage s/s exhaust, induction kit, sub, 6 x 9s, 2 amps, lexus lights, window tints, alloys and has been lowered. Do you lot still think this will be possible for me to insure? Its a group 2 insurance as standard but i will have to declare the mods, dont want people replying telling me to not declare them! I have Pass Plus.

Can anyone suggest any insurance companies that will do me quotes for this car with the mods?

You will get insured mate Group 2 = CHEAP, but a few of the mods might out it up a little bit - if you go for CIS then they allow modifications as long as they dont effect performance!

Plus IMO it might be best to go on your dads insurance for the first yr - insurance is a hell of a lot cheaper when your 18 - i can get insured 1300 fully comp when im 18 but its close 2500 at the moment!

BTW i payed 1000 fully comp as the main named driver with the policy in my dads name (with CIS)

I want my own policy so i can start building up no claims, willing to pay around £1700 but i dont want to pay too much for the mods. Whos CIS? Do they have a website and does it mean that i cant have the intake and the exhaust?

Exhaust, Induction kit and alloys will be the killers.
My 17s added £300 on to my insurance alone.

For a 17yr old there gonna quote you as much as they can - any opportunity (ie and IK) they can get and they will quote you even more! lol!!

Youd be best just to tell them that its not an IK and just a filter that makes it sound nice! therefore not performance enhancing! lol!

Id imagine the rest of the stuff youd be fine with mate - best thing you can do is ring around BEFORE you buy the car!

If you want your own policy youll have to do some seriuos ringing round and finding the best place to go!

Good luck with finding a quote mate - 1700 might be possible but expect to be quoted between 2000 and 2500!

Try Lverpool Victoria there ok with any mods as long as you tell about then usually.

Best get ringing a load of firm though. Im sure youe be able to get insuracne just try all the tricks recomended in the thread mentioned above.
