Insurance for 18 yr old

  K20 EG Hatch

Right, my insurance is up for re-newal soon. I am 18yr old and this is the first time I will be insuring my car under my name. Last year it was under my step dads.

The cheapest I have found so far is £1400 for my 1.2 16v. Anyone know of any cheaper places?

Cheers

£1400 is a good price..

Try Elephant (altho, prices to go up with mods if you have any/intend to do any).

HIC gave a good quote on my 1.2, all mods declared, but, Im not sure they are as good now going on what people have said on here.

Yeah thats a pretty good quote to be honest Dan. Who is that with?

I take it that is without mods? You cant get insured with mods until your at least 19 with most companies.

yeah that is without mods, i really wanted to declare em this time round! I cant remember who it was off either, it was about 2 months ago when i called the company and me bein a dick dint write it down or anythin!

Dan,

I am currently insured with Adrian Flux for £1400 (with a years worth more of driving under my belt). Im insured with the brakes, coilovers (lol) and everything on that..

add ur dad on as an additional driver, that will save you a few hundred squids. try getting some quotes on the internet, and play around with the additioal drivers to see who can save you the most money.

well i give adrian flux a call and they have said that they wont be able to quote me with my mods till im 19, anyways i will have turned 19 when it needs renewing so he dint even ask me any questions he just said it would be around £1500!

So will try there if i cant get it any cheaper with the mods!

The advantage with Adrian Flux is that you have a Modified Car Policy, so you can add more and more modifications (within reaon) without your premium changing.

I think i paid £400 over what directline wanted, which would of been fine as i was originally planning a lot more stuff for the little Clio.

Im 18 and insured my S reg 1.6 Clio in my name, first car, no NCB, went with Liverpool Victoria...got it for £1800.
That was the cheapest i could find ANYWHERE!

I found two were abput the same, CIS and Admiral, CIS are like Liverpool Victoria with respect to mods, in that they dont charge any extra unless they effect performance, and wiht a full exhaust, de-cat and IK on a 1.8 RSi my premium stayed the same.

Admiral charge extra for mods.

Also depending on how long till you are 19, try HIC, they gave me a fairtly cheap quote, when i told them i was 19
