hi all

my neighbour kindy reversed into the side of me.... bi**h lol

so now she has gone through her insurance to fix my car will this effect me when i come to sell the car or renew my insurance? just as they claim was not made on my insurance but my neighbours

You will have to declare a 'non-fault claim' when you come to renew your insurance I believe.

yup, cost me an extra £200 on mine after a non fqult claim, i kicked off big time with the poor bloke, they waived it down to £80 extra which i relectantly paid

I had to pay an extra £50 for a non-fault accident cos it was a 2nd accident on my record. Fortunately I had sued the silly b**ch after the accident for injury and other things so it wasn't too big a deal but I was still pissed off.

Just don't tell them. Nothin to do with them anyway!

(Think of it as your claiming on a persons house insurance, as a tile fell off thier roof and hurt you) - you wouldn't tell your house insurance company.....

Isn't damage fixed by your own insurance and then they claim costs from the other party?

That's how my last accident was done.

as far as i was aware you had to legally tell your ins company if you have had an accident regardless of claiming on your own ins policy!

in my lotus it went up double - as you prob can gather i didnt stay with elephant! (what a joke) i asked them why they couldnt answer me!!! (i think its when the claim hasnt been settled regardless of who is paying! but why ins companys up your policy through a 'no fault' claim is just a JOKE!!!!!!!!

only if its categorised it will be put on the HPI check i.e cat a,b,c,d a slight bump isnt going to show.

my old car was subject to 13k worth of claims in 2 years but because of the way the claims were put through by her insurance and mine after it was stolen the car was never categorised so showed a clean HPI

unless the insurance take the car away IE:Write it off and pay out, the car isn't on any damage condition register. Which is why i wonder people care about Cat D's etc as many cars have had repairs upto 75% of their value (sometimes more) and are HPI clear.

Been insured on my g/f's policy for last few years, and never had a non-fault accident...
I can't believe they put up the premium even if the accident wasn't your fault! They sting you every way possible?!!!...

i cant see how it would affect your policy if the womans insurnace company is picking up the bill and the accident was not your fault. Why would they need to know? A non-fault claim surely means that he claimed on his insurance as a non fault accident (ie, she could have driven off) , but he didnt?

It wasnt his driving that caused it.

Dont give out information that may possibly get someone into a lot of trouble if you are not clear on the situation.

By doing so could lead to someones policy potentially be invalidated.

Taken from More Than's Website:

"Have you or any of the drivers to be insured had any claims or accidents in the last five years regardless whether a claim was made or not?"


Also taken from Tesco Insurance:

Please tell us about any accidents, claims or losses made by you or against you, irrespective of fault, within the last three years."



Most insurance companies ask the same question as shown above. They dont care if a claim was made and/or whos fault it was.

If you have had an accident, in this example the other party is paying a record has been made of whos car was repaired, who they are insured with and all the details of repair including costs.

Thsi information can potentially be stored on the insurance register for "use by UK insurers"
