Insurance offered me...

.. £4500 on my 1994 Williams 2.

Was their first offer, and although its pretty good Ive asked for it to be looked at, as there are a few on trader for more at the moment.

Even if I dont get much more, still gotta be happy with the amount, considering the stories you hear about other peoples valuations!!

If youve seen them going for more then take copies of the adverts and send them to your insurance company. I was told to do that in the past, when I was making a claim.

You heard from the old bill?

No.. apparently could take months Im told.

Im filling out the form they sent me to declare what I saw/did/heard etc, have to draw pictures blah blah.. taking advice on the best way to fill it out.

When that goes back, theyll collect the information from my and anyone else involveds submissions, use what evidence they have themselves (i.e. the account of two officers who didnt see the actual accident), then decide what offence (if any) they have sufficient evidence to take me to court over.

Have done in the past week or so since it happened.

The guy assessing my claim said he will research tonight himself on the internet, which is unfortunate because a week ago there were a couple more higher value ones on Autotrader that arent up now.

how much do u reckon u could buy it back for?
They want me to pay quite a high percentage, more than other people have had to pay in past experience. It differs from insurer to insurer though.

Still probably going to be worthwhile, just wont prove as beneficial as it first might have done.

  Focus ST3 + proper Mini

when my mini was stacked head on last year I was offered £1k but after sending in ads from Auto Trader/Car mags. This offer was then raised to £1995. This being the total value that the car was insured at.

Good Luck

This was Direct Line.. gonna hear back in the morning on their 2nd offer, fingers and toes crossed its near the £5k mark!!

Trust me mate when they say months they mean it... Im still waiting to sort out my crash with the 172 and that was in june!

Word of advice, what ever you write just ensure it doesnt incriminate yourself... get it checked by a solicitor if needs be!

And if it gets to the point they want to interview you dont say a word without a solicitor present, i wish to god i had! :(

Also go for at least 5k mate, you should be able to swing it ;)

I had a brief altercation with some bollards and a lady in a Fiesta.

There was also a Calibra involved but it fled the scene.
