Insurance prices.

  R34 GT-R & 172 Cup
Well not having much luck with insurance dont no how these other young people are getting cheap quotes. I phoned flux, bell, brentcare no luck with any off them.

flux - cant quote
brentcare - got to be 19 even though i will be on the insurance start date
bell - 4,806

So who else can i try or is it a case of get rid of my hard earned pride and joy :dapprove:

Also how have 18-19 year olds got quotes sub 2k ?

  R34 GT-R & 172 Cup
Yer last year i insured it no bother well no bother it was sub 2k, now insurance quotes seem to be getting higher through out the months last month i had it at 2,200, then 3,400 now 4,800.

  dCi 65 + C2 (<Sold)
Yeah, insurance premiums have risen by 50% in the last two years alone so it's not surprising. They are absolutely hammering young drivers with 'hot' cars. Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do about it mate! If you want to save money sell the 172, buy a small car, rack your NCB up and re-buy in a couple of years time.

Not fun I know.

  R34 GT-R & 172 Cup
Yer thats what its looking like to me, just annoying how i worked my ass off to afford car and insurance then some spotty teen on the other end of the phone says they wont insure me. Plus whats a decent car i can go for that will make me happy and as fun to drive as the clio lol

How have some of you teens got your damn cars insured sub 2k?

Buy a 1.6 something or other and save on your insurance.

Make it handle and you'll have fun.

I agree Joshua but it is high for a reason. At that price it would be silly to keep the Clio although what can you downgrade too? MK5 Fiesta ZS, C2 VTS?

  dCi 65 + C2 (<Sold)
Nah, 1.6 is still quite high for under 20's. Go for a dCi 80 or something, feels nippy enough that you won't get bored, and the money it saves you you can put aside for a mint Trophy in a couple of years time! ;)

  R34 GT-R & 172 Cup
all my mates own saxo vtr's,vts fiesta mk5 zetec s...and all paying 1,500 or below. Duno about diesel though im thinking a rascal van RWD well i will be in the forces next year so wont need a car really this was gona be my last year of fun.

To be honest I wouldn't pay 1.5k to insure anything!!!

I pay £300 a year to insure a group 15a an agreed market value of 7.5k, 6 years no claims, will be 7 in December.

I started off on my own insurance and in small cars now i'm reaping the rewards.

Anybody who pays that much to insure their car imo has no reason to complain. You're young and you're driving a fast car. That's like complaining about mpg in a 2.0ltr hot hatch.

  R34 GT-R & 172 Cup
Yer i get what you saying the thing that is annoying is i saved up and worked my ass of last year and got insured sub 2k which i was happy to pay, now this year its gone up when iv had another years experience in a high performance car yet they want more money.

I see in the other thread you got 3 points.

That + being 18 + driving a 2litre Clio = the high prices.

Why's that confusing?

That's the list I've just been thorugh - only Brentacre, HIC & Keith Michaels offered me competitive quotes. All stated that keeping my stainless exhaust reduced my quotes by 2 - 3K.

HIC just done me a good deal on my 172. Ask for Danny (leave your number if he's not about) and say Mike Cunningham sent you.

My bad, didn't look like that when I copied & Pasted. Editied for legibility.

give GreenLight a call.
There is no one better for me when it comes to insurance, i live in a area with a high crime rate, also have MS50 (12month ban) and TS10 on the license and all mods declared, ok im 28 and been driving 6 years but mine is sub £300. IF i didnt have the MS50 i got quotes for £190'ish.

  BMW 320ci
Nearly 5K :| I'm 19 and pay 2k for a BMW 55 plate 320ci with 3 points and 2 years no claims and that's in an F rated postcode, can't you do a multi car policy? Have you put parents as named drivers?

  SG9 Forester STi
As someone has said try HIC they're good for younger drivers and I'm paying 1.5k for mine with 1ync, I'm 21 though so that may have helped.

  R34 GT-R & 172 Cup
Cheers for your help guys and gals i will check them all out, to do with my points i got them a year before i was driving as it was on a tractor at age of 16 was pulling a trailer that was to big for me to be allowed to pull. They come of this year.

Brentacre are odd, when i tried to get them to insure me when i was 18 - they said i had to be 19. Now i'm 19, they say i have to be 20.

Presume you live in a decent area, most in NY are.

Dont even know where Telford is but judging by this thread i'd guess the OP lives in a less good area.

  R34 GT-R & 172 Cup
