Insurance Question

Hi

I have Fully Comp Insurance with Liverpool Vic , and my m8 has a car which is insured fully comp , but she has not passed her test as of yet and needs to get it from a place 20 miles away , will i be covered to drive it back for her or not

Gregg

if you have fully comp insurance , you are covered to drive any car (with the owners permission) but you will only be covered 3rd party.

hope that helps.

yeh, i have always had fully comp. deffo

i changed to my own insurance from named driver on my hubbys, cause liverpool victoria wouldnt insure me for the gto my hubby bought ( till i reached 30) now im fully comp 4 mine and can drive his gto 3rd party.

No, its not. A lot of companies place an age restriction on this. Tesco for instance charge extra for drivers under the age of 25 to be able to drive other peoples cars third party.

You need to check your policy or call your insurance company to find out for sure.

Is this defo on every fully comp insurance policy
This is true for some companies other have restirction ie liverpool victoria dont let you some only let you over 21 etc.

However the car can only be driven 3rd party if someone else is insured on it ie you could drive my car (if I let you) as its insured by me as well, but you can only drive it 3rd party. You couldnt drive my dads landrover as no one is insured to drive it though.

yeah, just becasue youre fully comp doesnt give you access to driving other cars. its company dependant. im FC but cant drive other cars on my policy.

sorry mate doesnt sound that way.

i must have been lucky. all my policys fc ive been able 2 drive any other car 3rd party (with owner concent) whatever age i was.

u learn something new everyday;)

When I took out my policy this year with Tesco I asked the question and they said it was at additional cost to under 25s, so it wasnt a problem for me.

Maybe they are tightening things up a bit.

I remember a good 5 or so years ago drove my bosses Mercedes 280SL 3rd party on my insurance. He did threaten to kill me if I crashed it.
