Insurance recommendation

  Trophy
Hi,

New to the forum, so Hi all!

I bought a Clio Trophy last weekend as my cheeky town car run around. It's brilliant! My insurance is due for renewal tomorrow, and I'm looking for some recommendations on insurance companies. I have had a couple of quotes, but are there any good smaller specialist companies that you guys use?

Cheers

I'm with brentacre and I can change anything on the car for free, providing it doesn't increase power. They cover exhausts and induction kits etc. They class remaps, cams or ITBs etc as power increases

So you can change seats, steering wheel, alloys, suspension. All covered. Providing whenever you alter anything you just inform them, doesn't cost any admin fees either. Didn't cost to change my address either. 400 a year.

Don't be dissatisfied if they don't give you cheap quotes though. I got very expensive quotes from them all then I went on confused.com and got it £300 cheaper than my cheapest quotes from those selection of guys.

Good luck!

Greenlight definitely had the edge when I had both the 182 and Evo insured.
I'm still insured with them just for the Clio now as the Evo is sold. Neil is very helpful and gets back to you quickly with any questions.

The comparison sites can come in cheaper. This selection were 40 quid cheaper for me.

Thing to keep in mind is though, most of us will be chopping and changing parts. Exhausts etc.
The normal insurers don't cover this generally and if you declare mods they charge you a fortune.
If you don't declare and have a bump you lose everything.

So for few extra quid your covered for everything [emoji106]

Out of interest, what did the price-comparison sites come up with?

If it's a modified car then yeah, they're rubbish, but for standard cars I'm interested to know if any significant savings are made by calling around the "specialists" as in my experience they were rarely much better.

So, if you're going to take the car and start...."enhancing" it, yes, go with an insurer based on their flexibility, but if you just drive and service it, Brian or the meerkats will do just fine

  Clio 172 PH2
Im with churchill, fully comp comes all in at just under £250 I am an old git though and never had any bumps in 14 years!

  Track 172 Cup
Just paid £299 for my 172 cup I bought for tracking via Greenlight. That's with mirrored NCD from my daily drive that in have 7 years on. Mods covered free to change and £40 if I wanna insure for a track day.

I bought the car with some mods to it already (suspension, exhaust etc.), so I didn't really want to go through the hassle with some of the comparison sites. Dan was really helpful and seemed quite a fan of the Clio (I'm guessing he may have one). Much cheaper than Brentacre too, at least for me.

Both Dan and @Neil@greenlight are on here mate, both very helpful and one of the reasons I've been with them a few years.

I'm with admiral although it was extortionate, it was the cheapest for me on a multi car policy. 1012 quid a year, no NCD, 22, licence since I was 17.

They can come up cheap with even a year's NCD so try them as well.

£331 with direct line here.... With a £50 excess too.

Would have been £260 with £200 excess.
