Chaps,
Thought you might be interested in the following
Did a bit of a test yesterday with my Mk1 172 and for an ambient of 32 degs I was reading 70 intake temp during heat soak 60 degrees driving round town and 50 degrees giving it a good blast down a private test road... (speed is in Km/hr and tweaked to save my licence..) This information is coming directly from the ECU so is what the car is reading and using.
18 degrees would be about 8 BHP (if intake temps were the same as ambients)
If somebody fancies giving me a cold air intake systems or two I will gladly carry out some comparisons free of charge(need a nice cold air system )
Will carry out a more scientific test on the weekend
P.s When I added the picture it just came up as a link. Can somebody give me some instructions how to add pictures tah
