Intercooler Modification

  500bhp Scoob
Right, basically a chap at work has offered me a nice sized intercooler to replace my current one that isnt so big, but the only problem is, its got 90 degree bends on both pipes, so they face into the engine bay, instead of away from the car.

I would get someone to just weld new pipe to either side, and seal the other hole but the ends are plastic.

So I'm wondering if anyone whos dealt with turbo'd cars before knows if its possible to get new ends put on the intercooler, i.e by welding around the core, after taking the plastic bits off?

I understand that not many people will know, seeing as the clio isnt a turbocharged car, but hopefully someone will know if its possible, and not too expensive.

Cheers

So it looks like this:

?

If so, can't you just turn it round to face the pipes outwards? Is that what you're trying to say?

Or do you want straight pipes out of each side, a la:

?

The problem is on the clio is that the bloody subframe gets in the way, atleast with the pipes straight out, I can pipe it around the subframe.

Serck Marston or whatever they're called now will be able to do it I would think. Also try your local radiator repairer/maker he might not be able to do it but he'll probably know somebody who does.

See ya
