Intermittent immobiliser fault - 182

Over the past week, my 182 has developed a strange immobiliser fault.

After switching off the car, it won’t restart for the next 15–20 minutes.

If I try to restart the car shortly after turning it off, the immobiliser light flashes continuously for about 15 minutes, then switches to a solid light for a minute or two before the car starts as normal. Once started, the car runs fine, provided it has been sitting for a while before attempting a restart.

So far, I’ve replaced both the key batteries and the car battery, but the issue persists.

Has anyone experienced this before or have any ideas on what might be causing it?

Sounds like a communication issue, or bad earth. Or both.

How do you diagnose a communication issue or do you just replace the modules?

CLIP diagnostics should give more information. Does it do it every time?

Everytime.

I don't know anyone near me with clip so may need to go over to two techs

I've an ecu and uch if you're wanting to swap it out
