Invest or Invest??

  Weeman sucks ****
My cup is coming up to the 72,000 mile service and is running oh so sweetly. Thing is there's not many other cars out there I can change to because if commute/running costs etc. An EVO/350Z or anything like that isn't feasable.

Basically my bonnet, front bumper and rear bumper all need some work done on them from a good bodyshop which I'm guessing will set me back anything up to a grand!

So, do I find a lower miler and lose money on mine or spend and get mine tip top? Tough decision for me, comments welcome.

  Clio 172 mk2
If it runs well and doesn't have any issues I'd be tempted to spend the money tidying it up and keep hold of it:D

  Golf GTi Mk2
If its giving you no problems, why change it? Just get the service done and touch up the bumpers, that would be my advice.

If you do decide to buy a mint lower mileage one, mines in the for sale section for £7k :)

Yeah it does and gets checked by a mate of mine that works for renault, quite frequently.

There's also the option to invest into some buckets and harnesses:D

The problems Rallypug has had should prove that it's far better to stick with the devil you know.

But there does become a point where an older car will start costing more than a new(er) car; imo 72k is alot, I'd be tempted by something new.

Its lighter and would make car faster, cant argue with that, full cage and everything not welded down out as well, go fully hardcore. Next week, we have to go find a tunnel again, i wanna hear your car go through it like last time, lol

  Turbos.
Who cares if its not in top condition, do you want a garage queen? Just continue ragging it, its not an Enzo you tart! ;)

Chris, personally I'd not bother changing or doing the paintwork. If you look at how many miles you do, if you buyer a newer car then you're just going to end up getting that covered in loads of stonechips and put s**t loads of miles on it.

Age old saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'd spend the money on yourself personally.

Wise words Si...weeman, get me 2 german wh or es to rub together. I want them buffed and shining for when I touch down in Cochem!

If its for breakfast, yes, Thats the only time for bucks fizz. We'll be reet kids belly, we can go find some fraulines in cochem, or better still do a night run to dusseldorf, if u still remember where to go for a drink!!! LOL ;)

A bit unfair matey as my 172Cup also had a few problems when l got it (Top suspension creak, faulty p/s pipe, sticking brakes when parked, clunking noise etc)

Just picked mine up now and l've done a sex wee again :)

I stick with what you've got mate, especially as its a known quantity! Don't want you going all soft on us and buying another version!

Yeah I thought that too but imo they look a bit dodge, chav overkill maybe.

Horses for courses then sheen?? lol.

You could always paint over it, thats what I would have done had I got one. Then show off when you lift the bonnet.

'Thats one o' them carbon fibrery things ya know!' :D

I'd only ever buy a 172 cup Jon, you know that.

Don't bother fixing it you'll only get the stone chips back gain soon.
Do a bit of touchtup and leave it IMO.
Unless you can get a good deal on a differetn CUp don't bother.
I'd get an extended warently though.

id keep it fella, as said getting the paintwork sorted is pointless if you commute alot, and the stone chips will come back.

  320d
Stick with what you know

I wouldn't worry about the mileage especially as a new engine is only about £1200-1500

Maybe get chips away to hide the worst stone chips but i wouldn't bother with a costly spray

I've decided to keep it and continue ragging it everywhere:D

Honestly, all advice most appreciated. R20 CWH has the best option but unfortuately I dont have the money to do this.
