iPhone 4 iplayer query

I purchased the component cable for viewing my iPhone movies on my tv... When I try stream iplayer to watch on the tv the quality is terrible, is there a way to increase the resolution or will it always be scaled to fit the phone screen?

Nope. You could try the VGA adaptor, but that leaves out sound.

I would have thought the iPlayer video would be a low res for the iphone so wouldn't look that good on a big TV.

This. The BBC make un-DRM'd h264 streams available for the iPhone/other mobile devices, these are of much lower resolution/quality than the normal iPlayer streams. You cannot access the normal iPlayer streams on the iPhone.
