iphone wont sync with itunes

updated itunes today and also icloud, but now my phone wont sync, when i plug the usb in it charges but nothing else

Customer has this problem, so would like to know outcome of this. There is a procedure page on Apple's site to go through.

What OS you using? Hers was XP

i just updated itunes with version 10. something, my laptop is running windows 7 if thats any good.

We updated to the latest, her phone was only on 4.2.1 IIRC.

my phone is currently running 4.2.1, its an old 3 so that could be the reason.

It won't sync manually either?

How do you mean Manual sync? It won't show up in iTunes at all
