ipod touch jailbreak

Jailbroke my ipod touch today...which means you can pretty much load any third party apps to it... Opens up the real potential of it.. Got all the iphone apps now which work great.. Google maps with route planner.. Notes... weather... mail for access to your email.. Also loads of games (blackjack, mineseweeper,lights out, sudoku etc... just loading up the game boy advance emulator to play GBA games.. its simple to do and works on the new 1.1.2 software uplift (if you do it properly!!)

BTW this is not illegal it just invalidates your warranty.. you can restore your ipod if you mess up

All I will say is watch all the vids before you do anything it will save you a lot of time and heartache...

As of now the only vids you will need if you are at software version 1.1.1 are first of all:-

If you want the mail settings for hotmail let me know (At the moment you need a premium account but will be rolled out to everyone eventually) other pop email accounts work fine


Oh BTW to restore your ipod if you mess up:-

Warning: This should be used as a last resort, restoring will erase all of your data

*Must have iPod plugged into computer while doing this*

Be patient, the force restore part may take up to 20 seconds.

1. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake button. (the power off option will appear, ignore it)
2. When the apple logo appears let go of the sleep/wake button (keep holding the home button.)
3. After a few seconds you should see the connect to iTunes image (you can now let go of the home button.)
4. Open iTunes .
5. iTunes should automatically recognize your iPod once the image comes up, if not unplug your iPod and plug it back in.
6. Restore your iPod by clicking the "Restore" button.

ok hotmail settings:-

Set this up as a pop account ignore the other 2 (IMAP and Exchange)

use these details:-

Name:- Your name!!

Address:- Your full email address

Description:- Hotmail

Incoming mail server

Host name:- pop3.live.com

User name:- your full email address

Password:- your hotmail password


Outgoing mail server

Host name:- smtp.live.com

user name:- your email address

Password:- your hotmail password


NOTE YOU MAY NEED TO CHANGE YOUR HOTMAIL PASSWORD LETTERS TO UPPER CASE FOR IT TO WORK... I DID!! anyone let me know if it works otherwise

It may take a while to connect to the server when you click save

LMAO, it takes 30 mins to decode to MP4, hardly a limiting factor!

Thanks army, worked a treat, some great things you can do with it, google maps are excellent, tried using them on safari but the needless sections of the site got in the way and made it near impossible so that app is great, as is the weather one.

Took me 7 minutes to encode divx version of ep 1 of season 6 24 to mp4 using super.. so not really a factor for me...

Just pay £5.99 to iTunes and get version 2 firmware. I Jailbreaked mine, back in November, it was twitchy to say the least and I reflashed it back to standard.

You wont loose anything. It backs it up first. Takes AGES!

You can still download apps on the official software using the App Store so it's not just the standard apps.

It doesn't take ages now BTW to backup, the updated software from Apple (v2.0.1) doesn't take anywhere near time it did, at least for the iPhone.

All the Apps here can be put on your device after installing the v2.0 software.

Oh yeh, you'll get AppStore now too. Thats worth it.

The only difference is if you want your own themes/icons etc. If you do then you need to jailbreak as I dont think there is an official "summerboard" version in the appstore yet.

Its only £6, you can still jailbreak it at a later date.

Piad the £5.99 and after about 2 hrs of restoring and shizzle, the itouch is lovely now can download apps etc... even got this lighter one.. its pap, but looks funny lol
