ive heard a rumour that is a wiring diagram going around so that phase 2 rear lights will fit my mk1 172? true or false? Someone has told me that the pins inside the connectors are different, but he also told me that his uncle was ex wrestler giant haystacks, and that was a lie.

Yes there is one and they do fit.
Make sure you buy the lights with bulb holders though unlike me!

warning though... that chart can vary! the colour of my wires were different, and from what i read there were other people with the same problem.

It took me about 10minutes to change all the wires around. Just make sure you print out that chart and put it in your boot when your changing the wires around

I fell over trying to put my socks onto wet feet this morning, i think i could struggle with this...i will be calling on the help of BIGjts. And RacerStu, this appears not as easy as you made out, ill have my ice cream back...

Lol im not really a fan of ice cream but seriously its so easy to do. Just pull the wire holder out of the light and compare it to the sheet so you got it the right way up, then change the wires over accordingly. Do it 2 at a time if your not sure. There is a clip on the wire holder that you open and then the wires just come out 1 by 1.
