Is if economical to keep my car 100800 miles

  Titanium Clio 182
Things keep going wrong with it at the moment the past 3 months i've spent about £4,000 altogether with mot failing, suspension arm braking, alternator dying. I hired a Audi A4 last weekend, it was an estate (avant) and it was an automatic, was a lovely car. I was looking at how much it would cost to lease one or buy one. Would be about £500 a month which is cheaper than what im paying at the moment to keep my 182 on the road.

Hopefully everything will be ok for a while now, a service is due sometime soon maybe 112,000 miles. If more things start to go wrong i'm seriously thinking about selling it.

two things...

1) Do not spend £500 a month on leasing a car. You can lease some very very nice Mercs/Audi/BMW's for under £250 if you know where to look.

2) I could have built an entire 182 from nuts and bolts for £4000. WTF have you had done???

Surely if you've spent £4k on the car in the last few months there isn't anything else that could possibly go wrong? In which case I'd keep the clio.

I've spent a load on my 70k mile 182 recently and debated selling it for ages. Decided to keep it now as I've sorted so many of the common faults that I might as well enjoy the money I've spent on it!

No wonder it's cost that much if your using the suspension arms to stop the car.

But seriously, unless the engine or gearbox dies there aint many expensive parts on the clio?

Got back last night from Portsmouth to Middlesbrough, was on the M1 doing about 90mph then the emissions light started to flash. Thought nothing of it, as the car was still accelerating and decelerating. But I had to slow down to 60 due to the fog, when I tried to accelerate it was very jumpy, as if I was doing 30 in 5th gear, you know when your in the wrong gear.

Anyway carried on driving then the lamp stopped flashing and didn't come back up, the acceleration was normal again. It then came on again about 30min later (It was flashing the first time for about 10 min) done eaxactly the same, sluggish and felt like I was in the wrong gear when accelerating, with very poor acceleration.

I got home and stopped the car, the idling was poor and juddering about. I turned off the engine, kept the stalk button pressed in when turning the power back on, went to the error code on the display and it was showing ---h.

I have just had a sensor replaced by Ren-Tech as the car was over fuelling.

So thats going to be MORE MONEY!!!

Its never ending

you have just got a bad one. get some fool to swap you for something on pistonheads just let everyone on here know first so they don't get it. There is only so much money you should put into a car before you sell it, crash it, burn it.
