Is it time to sell up?

  182 Cup
I love my car - I love it's fun factor and pace for relatively little money, but recently I've been having thoughts about changing it for something completely different.

I've been thinking about putting the car back to standard, selling it and the various parts from it (no PM's please, these are just thoughts for now). And going and buying something interesting for around £12k.

I'm thinking along the lines of S8, M5, Cerbera, etc. I've got no interest in anything Japanese, but other than that I'm open to ideas. Any suggestions people and will I regret it?

I got shot of my 172, 182 and 197 and don't regret it. I do miss the 197 at times, but not the 172 or 182.

Good stuff.

I felt like this about the 172 last year, now I'm loving it again tbh.

See, now that's the thing. I'm about the same age as you too, I know the Clio is a great car and can put a smile on my face on nearly every drive, but on the other hand I'm pretty sure a super saloon could do the same. I'm torn to be honest and it's a lot of work to put mine back to standard.

Am I going insane? M5, S8 or TVR for 12k? Not being an arse, just hadn't thought you could get something like the above (that is reliable enough to spend 12k on!) for that money :S

I don't see much wrong with any of these...

Keep the clio for track day and buy an M5.

Best of both worlds then.
:D

That is without doubt a fantastic idea, however I fear that at best the financial implications could be difficult to manage. I suppose I could live in an M5 though...

A mate of mine looked into getting an M5, looked at the running costs and they were similar to a Ferrari of similar age (I think that's right anyway).

So beware

was also thinking that the running costs have got to be a nightmare in comparison with a Clio. go for it if you think it's do-able though!

Cerberas have been 'cheap' for a while; think there've been lots of engine rebuilds; bad idea?!

The old man ran an M5. f**king epic running costs, even when new. And thats the cheapest of the options! The S8 is pretty horrendous to insure iirc, alu panels costs a f**king fortune to replace!!
TVR's, no matter how many glue addicts tell me they are reliable, I simply don't believe that the horror stories aren't true!
Not saying keep the 182, but re-think the options IMO.
