Is it warranty

I hit a kerb some time ago and the side airbag went off. The car has just gone in for some work. one piece of work was that the drivers side rear seatbelt had jammed. When I had the accident I was driving and my girlfriend was in the drivers seat. No one was in the rear. Renault say that the seatbelt has jammed because the pretensioners have gone off. I was rather shocked at this because the front pretensioners have not gone off. It makes no sense to me that a safety system designed to protect will go off to save the ghost in the back but not the real people in the front. Because of this I think it should be a warranty job and will argue that fact when I pick the car up but I would like some advice am I right. Is it warranty job

No wonder you crashed

Anyway.. You don't have the luxury of airbags in the rear plus you have people's heads in front of you hence the pre-tensioners in the back went off (whether people are using the rear seats or not)

In the front they are not so aggresive allowing the airbags to cushion the impact.

it was the passenger side airbag that went off

meaning I (the driver) had no side airbag in the direction of the impact either

Airbags and pretentioners only go off when needed I wouldn't even bother trying to argue it.
