Is My Air-Con/CC Working

How can you tell if it is working?, drove to work tonight in my new 172 and the inside screens staid misty for most of the duration of the journey, is this the only way to tell if air-con/CC is working?...even on mini the air didnt seem particularly cold?

Used mine for the first time this morning to sort out misted windows, just clicked the buttons (for front and back windscreens) and hey presto, clear windows all round.

The demist button does nothing except blow air at a higher speed, its quite useless (like the smart wipe function!) especially if the air con is f**ked!

You couldnt be more wrong, the demist button is excellent... it directs the air to the window, fires it up to full blast and switches the air-con on, which acts like a dehumidifier.

Infact if you have had your aircon on for a while then go back to your car later and dont have it on, chances are you windows will steam up like fcuk

Warm or cold it made no diffeence, dya reckon it may need re-gassing?
No, it only needs re-gassing to produce cold air, not warm...

So warm air via air con/CC is the same as warm air produced with air con switched off?

I dont know exactly how it all works, but the air con is definetly on. As _KDF says, the air has less humidity passing trough the air-con therefore demisting quickly.

Also it must be different, as when you press the demist button, the AC button turns itself ON

No its not. Warm air with CC is still dehumidified. Just leave it on AUTO all the time, and use the demist button when it gets a bit steamy.

Make sure the air re-ciculation is turned off, if you press the front demist button it should turn this off automatically.
