is my alternator dead

car died on me last week so i replaced the battery and it then ran fine for the week.
last night it died again with no juice in the battery. as i was parking with low revs and my stereo on i turned the wheel (power steering) and the stereo cut out and my dash lit up (car kept running but there was a power drain).
does this sound like my alternator is knackered, its a 106gti by the way.

or the wiring returning the charge from alternator to battery has shorted/burnt out (or a connector some where has broken down) (took me 3 alternators,a battery and a starter motor to find that!), get a meter and beep them out (continuity check)- car electrics are the best fun in the world

Get a meter and put it on the battery terminals - Anything less than 13 and your alternator aint working.

The car must be running for this test!!!

yeah what flipper says is correct but dont forget it could just be the wiring also.
