Just to be helpful, I had an R reg Clio which was a 97 MKI shape, my friend has an R reg 98 MKII shape, so whichever one you have I reckon thats your year

Look at the v5 (the log book) where it says date of first registration, is the year of the car.

i have a p (97) reg 1.2 and its the end of the mk 1's so its a mk1 phase 3, but you can get it in an r reg, so it may be either, and the date of first reg is no help, mine wasnt registered till june 2000, it was in a showroom till then, bloody perfect underbody tho, unusual for clio mk 1's.lol

It'll be a mk 1 phase 3 you have with the more rounder lights and bumpers you have...you can't get angel eyes for them. IK kit wise, your engine is the same as the 1.4's used from 91 onwards so any of the parts from them will fit fine.

I think your wrong?

They switched to newer engines for phase 3, which are multi point injection, a tad quicker, and much more reliable.
Or was that only the 1.2

  mk1 phase 3
ive got a mk1 which is a 1998 r reg. phase 3. and you can get everything for them just like any other car! apart from steering wheel, you need to get a snap off boss if u wanna change that. ive bought most of my stuff from k-tec. and you can now get phase 3 angel eyes for them. wont be buying any tho:approve:

you can get steering wheels without a snap off boss, momo do a normal one, for about 40 quid, and as for angel eyes they have become availible recently, tho they are vv expensive, nice tho, and it is not an x reg, just cos it wasnt registered till 2000 doesnt make it a buitl in 2000 clio, it was built in 1997 but registered in 2000.

no he was right but you've misunderstood it. when a car is registered it is given a regisration plate, if your car wasn't registered until 2000 then it should be an x-reg, (this doesn't mean it should be the new shape), so your car was obviously registered in 1997 as it has a p-plate, but not used/bought until 2000 if it was still in the showroom.

iirc an example of this is williams number 002 being on a p-plate, whereas williams 1's were supposed to be L reg's.
