Is my oil pressure too low

  The Jinx

Having read that thread the other day I thought Id check mine out. At cold idle it seems to be the same as everyone was saying, about 4bar.

At running temp (100-110) however it sits at 0! At about 2500rpm though its up to 2-2.5bar.

Is it alright? If not what should I check out?

Could be down to the grade of oil your using?

Oil temp seems highish too, im normally about 100-110 when fully hammering it!!

Its not uncommon tho as ive heard of quite a few people reading down to zero bar, these gauges are really only an indication on whats going on, not the most accurate of things!

Its fine, dont worry.

Most valvers do that with extreemly hot oil, although some owners might not admit to it as its seen as being a poor valver.

If it isnt the oil grade what else could cause the low pressure? There doesnt appear to be any oil in the engine bay anywhere.

BTW can anyone recommend any oil, as I might do a change soon?

Also might invest in a low temp fan switch and thermostat from BB when Ive got some beans, as wel as getting the coolant system flushed.

Dunno mate, could just be wear n tear! However if your oil light is not flashing up at ya i wouldnt be too worried... me and the handbook tend to agree in recommending this stuff:

ELF Championship ST 10w/40 :D

Coolant system flush gives the best results.

ITs viscosity and temp that make the diff, along with the thermo properties of each oil. I run 15w50s which give 6bar at cold and idle, but 0 at idle when hot.

I have 15w50s which get up to over 120 on track and at max rpm barely reach 3bar.
