Is my track rod end in need of replacement? (video included)

  172DD Cup
hi, i can feel a bit of knocking when rocking the passenger wheel with my hands at 9 and 3 o clock. its coming more from the 3 o clock position i think. figured the track rod end, so remove it from the hub and here's the play, i guess this is too loose, but would be good to confirm. i also pulled the track rod back and forth and no movement so i guess this is fine. it did rotate rather easily though...

also, would you replace both track rod ends, or is one on its own ok? i suppose the condition of one side is a good indication of the condition of the other side though...

  Dodgy one
The videos pretty useless TBH lol, if youve got play at 9-3 its either going to be the inner or outer rod ends, if you cant feel anything on the inner one its the outer thats shot and i'd do the pair as its going to need the tracking done anyway, Generally if ones gone the other not far behind as you've said

you're not pulling on the rod end there, you're pulling on the rod. People on here often refer to inner and outer rod ends but the inner end is the track rod itself and the outer end is smply the track rod end.

I just had both track rods replaced (the ends themselves were fine) and it has tightened the handling up tremendously.

replaced them both in the end as the driver side bolt on the track rod end was quite loose. still got play on both sides though.

when i had the track rod ends off and the track rods in my hand, there wasn't any friction when wiggling them around or turning them- should i expect some friction here?

also noticed that now i have vertical play in the driver side with my hands at 12 and 6. didn't find it yesterday :(
so would this be ball joint or shock top mount?

lower ball joint that mate

also there wont be friction as it is a ball joint, have you checked inner track rod joints under the boots?

id just change lower ball joints tbh even though it is a pain in the arse lol

i've got it in bits at the moment, i can't tell if the faint knocking noise i get with my hands at 9 & 3 is the top mount or the track rod. would it even be the top mount?
