Is this a coincidence??

Bought my car with 75k on the clocks...generally really tidy with everything inplace like it should be.

Took some advice that a couple of mounts were worn in the old engine compartment. Being only £10 dearer then Renault, I decided ok i'll take an uprated mount then please... (no brainer apparently) and a std £15 gbox mount.

Now, a week later, my exhaust has snapped towards the backbox, It has been fine since i bought the car, yet developed a blow a day ago...now the fucker has snapped off today!?

My question is...due to extra strength of an uprated engine mount, vibrations etc etc....has this dramatically shortened the life of my exhaust? (yes i know renault exhausts are s**t, but mine was fine for 2 months with no blowing or wobbling)

I'd quess it'd affect it, not quite sure how you'd prove it though.

it's entirely possible it's directly related, but would have said the exhaust was well on its way before it finally went anyway

engine mounts and exhausts are rubbish in OE guise, so at least they've both been&gone now
