I used to own a mint mk1 172 and it was my pirde and joy untill some mug wrote it off, i decided to get something different and bought an audi s3. Ive had it just under a year and getting bored of it, its lovely to drive and has so much power but its just not fun to drive unlike my 172 was.

The running costs suk with 60 quid petrol a week when i hardly drive it, plus i could do with the cash left over.

anyway a friend at work is selling his black 172 02 plate for 5k, its up for 6k but he said he would sell it to me for 5k. Its on 36k and afaia is in mint condition, does this sound worth it, would love anoher mk1 but they all such high milage now.

5k would be a good deal, providing the aux belt has been done

I personally wouldn't ditch an S3 for a 172 tho

ya just found out aux belt hasnt been done yet, i remeber mine cost about 600 quid on the mk1!!! gonna have a drive and see how it goes, then decide wot to do.

have a search around abd buy a low milage 172 phase1 if you realy want it or a high milage one and get all the bsuhes etc chaged so its good as new.

Can buy phase 1 172 cheap now.
