If your neighbours have a problem being woken up before 19.00 hours,I can understand your concern.

Mine was like that, welded two nuts on and it's been fine for circa 18 months so far.
Any decent welder can fix that.

Sounds like a good idea, i am sure they will all end up looking like the above.

If you can see light trough all the honeycomb and it passes the mot then i would say its still usable.
I would rather have a genuine one than a aftermarket any day.

I'd guess that end piece seems to rot because its cast metal welded to the main body of the cat.

Decat it, it doesn't make that much difference that your neighbours will be out for your blood. Then just have someone weld some nuts or similar to the cat to put on for the mot. As long as it holds for all of 2 hours it will be fine.

Yep, the cat body is stainless with the mild steel flange.

Update....got it fixed within 20 mins. Looks like a washer has been used and seems to be ok. It's lasted 3 days so far haha

Time will tell.
