is this normal?

  Astra van,Mk1 nova
I have a 172 cup (03)

when i take off and stick the foot down the wheels start spinning, but it doesnt spin smoothly it judders even in the wet, it feels like its trying to get grip but cant, but its the noise! its like a banging, when it spins in second in the wet its a smooth spin

is this normal on take off? My old mk1 clio 16v never done this, thats whats making me worry:dapprove:

Any input much appreciated:)

not hitting the limiter, and its not the engine mounts, as i would feel that on the gear stick wheel accelerating hard then letting off

What is axel tramp?

OR

Its normal as Henry says?

is it doing it in the dry? they've got pretty good traction imo and you'd either have to be fairly keen with the clutch or have a problem (possibly with the tyres) before you experienced violent wheel spin in the dry

it's much easier to provoke in the wet though and will scrabble around if you let it. i would have thought that the knocking will be coming from the suspension as the bushes are being given a work out!

normal, engine mounts partially causes it, on some of them the exhaust manifold whacks off the subframe
