Right, recently my 182 has been playing up a little bit, doing all kinds of weird things, but above all it has been cutting out randomly when trying to start it, i.e. it will start, then cut out immediately. Yesterday it just about started, then after about 30 seconds of driving I started losing revs, it managed to get going again in 2nd, but was very odd!
Anyway the carbon canister is tapping heavily, so I have a new one on order, but the pipe, listed as number 4 on the picture below is attached to the carbon box at the point I have arrowed.
Would this make any difference to the running of the car at all?
When we had a look at the box the other day we removed the pipes to see how it would run, when we removed pipe number 5 on that picture, it was sucking air. I then bunged it up, as I had heard on here that you can run the car without them? Almost as soon as I bunged it up the engine cut out and wouldn't start again until it was unplugged, once it was it was rough for a few seconds, then the idle settled and it was fine.
Anyone any ideas what this was all about? And if pipe 4 needs to be in the location in the picture or does it not make a difference?
Thanks...
