Dont accept anything other than cash. There was something on the TV recently about fake bankers drafts- it takes 4 or more days after putting in the bank for them to let you know its a dud.

Even cash can be forged, so put it in the bank and ensure they confirm its genuine first.

Then, being French, give him his white flag back and wave him adieu.

Just get him to pay direct into your bank (in person), then give him the v5. Simple.

Over the summer I spent 2 weeks driving 2400 miles across France and I saw 2 RS clios the entire time I was there. Alex C mentioned people loving them in France and I got the same impression, but it doesn't seem that many were actually sold to the French, for reason unbeknown to me. The UK is Europe's largest market for 'hot hatches' so it's no wonder he's looking further a field. If he's happy to come over to the UK and pay cash I don't see the problem.
