Just had a race with a Lotus Elan Turbo in my 16v and he could not pull away from me, eventually i managed to pass him. The guy was not too impressed, he asked me what was under the bonnet, when i told him it was a stock 16v he told me to f*ck off and drove off. Anyone know the spec of these Elans, cant find much out about them. I was under the impression these were pretty quick things, thought id lose to be honest.
Think they might be a 1.6 turbo?

Yes, 1.6 turbo, 160bhp, it is a sensational drive, I have had one for nearly 12 years, S2, 15 cars from the end of production, handling is very similar to the clio in actual fact, even more surefooted, not so much steering feel though. Uses more petrol ! On the move, once you are in the turbo power band, it will take the 172/182 relatively easily, twisties very similar. Crossing England there probably would'nt be a lot in it.

I love both for different reasons, mainly the roof!

Mate had his chipped to over 200 bhp, lots of tyre spinning and much quicker once moving, however not as pure as the factory set up. Lotus know how to set up a car I can tell you.

Sounds like he just didn't have the bottle then, still relatively pleased though!! Didn't think for a moment id have a chance. Its quite amusing when someone thinks they're going to walk all over you and i doesn't turn out how they intended!!:rasp:
