when you paint the calipers, what do you need to do to prepare for the paint? to clean them down.

is it best to remove the caliper or can you do it while its on the car?

Mine are painted with standard spray can colour, and have done dozens of track days with no issue

Wire brush/sand them back a bit, bit of panel wipe & paint away.

Mine are black Hammerite too, I wire brushed them down to get all the cack off, then painted them up. I used a brush as the paint was quite thick, I gave them a couple of coats. They have been like it for about five years now & look fine.
