Itb's or matched inlets with rs tuner remap

  Itb'd 182
As above i can get my hands on an itb set up with jenvey bodies and the ktec Gen90 Ecu set up for around £1750 and run between 195 and 200 bhp and have a much improved torque and power delivery or just get matched inlets and an rstuner and have a power figure around 175bhp and a slight improvement on the torque and power delivery but for alot less , the cars allready on blisteins , with decent wheels , seats , brakes , and the cambelt and dephaser has been done and ive got a few track days booked so ive got some spare cash ready to spend on the engine

Are Itb's Worth it for that price ?

thanks

Neither!

My vote is with the Supercharger kit which is for sale for £2100 - Hello 270bhp!

ITB's are awesome. Anyone who says otherwise needs to grow a pair. Same goes for anyone who says they can't be used daily. I've done it for the last 16 months

so utterly different it's pointless comparing. massively under tuned engine in the ford to start with (assuming zetec) whereas the F4R is quite highly tuned from the word go

I gained 36bhp with my itbs ;)

It differs massivley from car to car, and as Danny has said the F4R in the Clio's are in a high state of tune as it is

my mk1 gained 26bhp at 3k when i went from standard inlet to ITB's ;) only made about 8bhp peak though (once i stopped the filters getting sucked in), but it's a different car

yes correct!!! but with uprated cams and head work you can get around 230 bhp!!! i agree different engine! and yes a silver top zetec!just wondered why so little gain!

To be fair though that 26bhp is exactly where you need it, gotta love itb's

exactly, peak figures are way over blown, and too many conversions see no gains until over 5k. Drove a pretty poor one recently, felt slower than standard until right up the top of the revs

lol @ people saying SC.

270bhp is not a realistic estimate hp on a daily driver, unless you've got another car as a back up lol

i think thats where itb's get a bad rep with regards to bhp per £ - as we know they make such a difference to how the car drives, and how much more power they make at pretty much every point in the rev range - plus the throttle response is fantastic, as you say as long as it's mapped correctly

course most people only see the peak figures not the overal picture so they are not seen as a great investment

My daily driver is 303bhp ;) lol
lol shh

I just think if you want boost buy something with boost! Or go forged at the very least and save cocking about in half a years time or however long you'd expect to get out of 270hp in an f4r flol

they do when they're done right, mines only ever had a very rough cold start setup, and it's fine after about 3 seconds. The one i mentioned in an earlier post was a mess though, 10 minutes of spluttery nonsense and doing NOTHING when you press the throttle

Tdf can do all kind of wonderful things that ensure your car runs right in all conditions on itbs. Proper setups and mapping by a proper company

Running the charger conversion at a lower boost , lets say to produce a peak of 230 bhp surely the f4r engine and jc5 box will be able to cope with this power for a reasonable amount of time ?

This is what i want to know, i it can handle 230-240 no problems then i will get a 172 cup next but if not mini gp.

yes it will, thats about where I'd want to aim at, maybe a touch higher even, but keep it under 250 for a bit of a safety margin
