Its hammer time

  Clio 1.5DCI
Now that ive got my engine stopping problem sorted (i hope) im looking to get a few things changed in my 65 dci clio could someone recommend:

1. Good Oil
2. Good Glow Plugs

And anything else to help make my motor run smoother, its starting to sound really tappety lately.

Also, anyone got a video or any idea how good those K Tec diesel exhausts are, I wanted to see better pictures to see what their like and how loud they are.

Thanks

Millers 5-10 or 10-40 I forgetdiesel oils good I'm not sure if the normal stuff better (ie Millers 10-40 petrol stuf) but the diesel stuff cheaper and its good stuff.

FOrget glow plugs stock are fine don't touch unless tthey need chnaging.

Chnage the gearbox oil for some decient stuff I like the Millers 75/90 stuff but royal purple supposed to be beter but its a bit more at £50 vs £40 for the millers stuff.

Get it chipped ive heard only difference in the dci is the ecu map. The 90 i think is the most economical.

The 80 has an intercooler plus different turboslightly for the 0.1 bar higher boost plus bigger injectorrs. There is no 90 its 65/80/100/106
the larger diesel also have intercooler. About the oil you scould use 5/40.
Depends on your environment down to minus 20 10-40 is still ok to use.

Thanks for the help. The next question I had was chipping the motor, ive seen ones like this:

CLICK ME HERE

Dont know whether or not to trust them, some people have had their engine screwed by them. Also, does it not put more strain on engine components as well as the clutch and drive shafts. To me a chip will cause more probs than good and with the state my turbo is in its bound to pack up with the chip.

Apart from EU law, surely car manufactures create their engines to develope a certain HP and Torque for a reason?

Thanks:D

Your right of course they make a certain power for a reason. But it is cheaper to mass produce 1 tougher engine than 3 seperate ones. Sometimes they add something to add the power. Like someone said the bigger ones have an intercooler. That prob costs renault £50 but they charge you another k for the extra power.

Gearboxes are different, 80 & 100 have intercooler, 100 has disc'd rear axle...

The engines are the same neither is 'tougher' than the other 2

There may be an issue with extra wear on your gearbox but i doubt it will be a huge issue. The main difference will probably be the same as the petrols. The gear ratios are different to improve the acceleration of the smaller engines. See if you can get an intercooler from a scrap car or an aftermarket one. Brake disks are not a major problem. Just change the rear axle and everything on it. I was quoted 150 second hand for the stuff to swap the brakes. Maybe 50 for the intercooler and 250 for the remap. Thats 450 to convert to a dci 100 if there aint any other differences.
