  is dirty.
You tried using the discs or books that came with it? Might be some help on there. I never had that problem with mine to be honest...

didnt come with any disks, its the new nano only comes with headphones and a usb cable for syncing songs and charging it.

lol, ive just gone to set up my ipod on my laptop which its never been installed on before... and the same message came up.

i just left it plugged in and it sorted itself out.

so you installed that itunes from the link, set it up, then plugged in the ipod and got that message?

could be down to only having USB1, not sure if they're backwards compatible.

Windows system requirements

  • PC with USB 2.0 port
  • Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
  • iTunes 7.4 or later5

Gonna be down to USB1 mate.

have you got Windows XP?

if so, service pack 2 installed? reason I ask is that USB2 support is only on service pack 2, doesnt come with windows XP as standard. I can send you a SP2 disc if needed
