I've just won a set of Turinis on Ebay, was it a good price?

Why downgrade your 172? lol, may aswell of got some aftermarket rims cos either way you will have to declare on ya insurance

IMO turinis look 100 times better than the std 172 items, but agree, don't be under any illusion that you don't have to mention them to your insurance.

I'm going to collect them so will see what they are like when I get there. I will be sending half of the payment via Paypal as well so can always claim that back.
Why do you reckon they are a downgrade Jamie? I want my 172 to look like a 172 and not a colour coded Dynamique LOL.
As for insurance, I 'should' declare them.
I actually like the Turinis though. My choice of wheels were 17'' 'legs or 17'' Turinis. Seeing as 17's screw the handling I though I may as well go for 16's but 'legs look pants in 16'' and I have been told they are also really soft so it had to be the Turinis.

It's safe to say my current insurers won't be finding out about the wheels as I am paying 1250 at 23 with 3 years no claims on a standard 172. The only reason I carried on the policy was because I was 6 months into it when I changed cars.
The wheels probably won't be fitted just yet anyway but Greenlight will be informed when I move my policy to them next year.

Nope fitting 17in wheels doesnt screw up the handling like every motorsport suspension specialist on here will tell you. when fitting a larger wheels the aspect ratio of the tire decreases, say on a 16in wheel its 45 then on a 17in wheel its 40 so therefore the wheel is larger but the tyre is smaller. A while ago i had a car which had 13in wheels i then fitted 15in which actually worked out to be of a smaller diameter to the oem wheels when fitted.

Its the weight of the wheels that screw up the handling in terms of unsprung weight. eg a 172 sport wheel and tyre weighs less than alot of crappy aftermarket wheels that you find for sale.

^ yeh not a bad explaination...the 16's will give a moderately sharper reponse. but i hate sharp front ended cars, i'd much prefer a slightly lazy turnin, with a little mid corner understear, will help the overall release of the car. The only way the 16's will work if if the upgrade the profile to a 205-45... More tyre on the track equtes to a much greated balace...I've tried both around a track, nout init...however what i will say is that the 17's a MUCH more forgiving, Less suseptable to wind, track conditions and if you make a wee mistake...
