Last month I decided to sell my Gti-6 to a friend who wants to take it rallying. I wanted something similar, little bit newer but cheap to throw bits at it and go have some at track days.
I decided on a clean iceberg 172 that was local, standard 03 plate, 88k £1500. The plans are sort a couple of problems, suspension, brakes and finally big engine rebuild. After a couple busy months moving and then starting a new job the work began this week.
ill upload photos when I'm on the computer instead of my iPad. In the post this week :- cooksport springs, pure motorsport top mounts and strut, rear pads, fabia splitter, reverse light switch, service kit, 25mm front spacers and 15mm 1 degree rear spacers from Dan at M.A.D, inlet manifold ready for port matching.
This evening I put it on the dyno to see what standard bhp it was running. At surry rolling road it gave 162.5bhp 149ft/lb. At the wheels was 134.3 and 123ft/lb. I was fairly happy with the result and the curve is very good.
Will update and upload some pics. Looking forward to enjoying some track days and having some fun.
