Juddering when setting off, revs dipping when coming to a halt etc?

As the title really.

It feels like when I'm setting off I'm really having to rev it quite a bit to set off making me look like a bad driver in traffic!

Also I've noticed when I'm in traffic and coming to a stop etc and I dip the clutch the revs rise quite a bit like a little jump then go back to idle again. This isn't just when cold like what some people have noticed, it's all the time.

Power seems to be there though and isn't misfiring etc.

It's the setting off now that's a problem as the fly by wire tb seems to be a life saver as it keeps stopping me from stalling!

Does this sound like it's clutch related or maybe a possible sensor? Thanks a lot. It's doing my head in.

It doesn't appear to be mate. It's probably worth noting that the 3 engine and gearbox mounts are solid too.

I've just seen this thread however and someone says: http://www.cliosport.net/threads/ca...-i-set-off-from-stopping.711523/#post-9752573

That's suggesting a dodgy connection between the alternator? This might coincide with the fact that my battery goes flat if I leave my lights on for around 10 minutes with no engine running!?

Mines was doing this . Turned out release bearing was sticking on input shaft. Is your clutch also really heavy ? These clutches shouldn't be that heavy I can push my new valeo clutch down with 1 finger

Yeah mine is ridiculously heavy! Andy at Clioturbo also said it was noticeably heavier than those he's felt before.

Is there anything I can do or is it literally a new clutch job? Cheers!

Most of the cost will be in labour to get at the release bearing, so if you are going to change that, you might as put another few quid to it and change the clutch at the same time, usually comes as a kit anyway....

Ahh cheers mate. Just spoke to my trusty garage and they'll do it all for £300. £100 me getting the kit and £200 labour.
That's the issue mate, unless you know someone or can tackle it yourself, Labour costs will be the big hit, and if nothing else, at least you will get a warranty etc....

It's totally your clutch being sticky , get valeo clutch fitted only

Cheers guys you were right it was the clutch going. The mechanic said that the clutch release bearing felt like it was filled with sand.

I can't believe how much better it has improved the drive now. The clutch is stupidly light now, it feels hydraulic!

Power is also back, I didn't realise before how much I'd lost due to the clutch but now in first and second gear it throws me back in my seat so much more. The best way to describe is the throttle feels more pin pointy accurate?? Like instant power and much much more of it.

Labour was only £175 in the end too. Very very happy with my first drive back to work with it this morning.

Thanks again.

nice one .. You'll enjoy driving much more now with smooth take off and know these clutches aren't heavy like many people claim

I'd disagree, put 40k into my Clio over 4 years, it was heavy from the start, and didn't develop any faults throughout, so seems normal to me imo.

There's heavy, and there's heavy. This is obviously the other side of the scale, and imo the Clio clutch is heavier than alot of other cars, especially modern ones where you could sneeze on one and it'd go down.

I think the definition of heavy is too subjective to really come to a conclusion but i'd say mine was very very light but then again I have been used to really stomping on the pedal to get anywhere.

Heavy from the start ? Did you own from new or buy with a new clutch ? I've had 3 from new and several after

When u can push a new clutch down with pinky then it's not heavy in any way . It's unbelievable how heavy these clutches become and still work and perform but you do notice a huge difference with a new clutch fitted

Don't worry they last forever once heavy , mine wasn't slipping but had to be replaced

Exactly. I had heard that these clutches were notoriously heavy so didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary. Now i've changed it the difference is night and day!

Well sadly, the revs when dipping the clutch is definitely still there :( Noticed it a lot when being in traffic on the way to and fro work lately.

The juddering when setting off has definitely improved though, no doubt about it..

Could there be a sensor that might be causing this? Or worn clutch cable or something?

what do you mean it revs when dipping the clutch, how much does it increase by? need a video

Clutch cable I'm
Sure would make a squeaky sound .
The dogbone I assume is ok as judt had box out .
Don't think they things have any relevance on revs dropping :/
I'm guessing the car idles fine

Revs dipping is probably the throttle body needing a clean. Mine does the same and occasionally stalls, just haven't got round to cleaning it yet.
