just a random Q about turbos

  iceberg 172
to keep it simple ill uses a 1*2 as an example. when fitting a turbo i get how it all work and that but what is the pipe for that runs off the actuator. ive seen turbos were the pipe goes back in to the turbo housing and others with no pipe like the ktec 1. so on the ktec one would you run a pipe from the actuator to the inlet mani and are these in place to put the turbo presure on the actuator there for controling it witch controles the max boost.

just trying to get my head round how it all works .

i think you mean the pressue side pipe, this works the actuator diaphram it can go to any take off on pressue side, i.e. turbo housing or inlet manifold

As above really, you'll find that when a turbo set up is using the actuator as the boost control they'll take the pressure from the manifold, this is mostly due to pressure drop which you'll have across the intercooler and pipe work.

If you took your reference from the compressor housing and were using a 7 psi actuator you might have 7 psi in the comp housing but only 4-5 psi at the inlet manifold depending how efficient your set up is.

On mine I take the reference from the comp housing but it's piped into a boost solenoid, my map sensor however is plumbed into the inlet manifold.

what turbos are people useing ive been looking. is ktecs resonable priced. i would like to build parts up over summer so if you were buying everything in bits what turbo would you go for. wont to keep standerd compreshion and keep it reliable. also is the acuator set to a psi or do u ajust them. done research and its around 0.5 bar i wont to run is this correct
