Just bought my Williams 3.........

  Clio Williams MK III
and was after a bit of advice from all the knowledgable folk on these forums ;)

It has been lowered, got a decat scorpian exhaust and a K + N air filter on it already, now i want to get to around 180ish bhp without going too mad, can anyone give me some advice on the best way to go about this?

is a K + N air filter doing its job properly, or should i invest in a different kind?

any information is greatly appreciated

cheers

Firstly, ditch the K&N filter! These actually arnt as good as the standard item!!

Best power gains are prob from throttle bodies, upgraded manifold and maybe an open IK system, though I'm no expert in engine mods...

My friend actually told me to check to see if the K+N air filter was actually doing anything at all, i guess this confirms it!

what do you mean by an open IK system?

thanks

Sorry, its an open induction kit. Sits at the front of the engine in place of the four big air pipes (from the standard unit). Most of them look like four trumpets and they really suck the air in making for better fuel combustion = more power! Havnt got one myself yet but thinking about it. Not sure how much it'll set you back though...

Super chips are always an option, but on non turbo cars the power gains are small and comparitively costly. Oh, and welcome!

Cams make for decient gains on the F7R engine talk to BenR on here about them as his company makes them in various specs.
Throttle bodies are great and a stunning sound but expensive.

  Black Clio GT
port and polish the head with matched 4 branch manifold with the decat system
270 degree cams
port/polish the inlet with a panel filter in the standard air box and a cold air feed
remap the ecu to suit the set up

= 180 ish bhp :)

then save up for tb's........

Thats great, thanks to all of you - i've got around 1k to spend on the engine at the moment, and i think the itb will have to come later (from what i have seen they are going to set me back around £2,500, for this cost are they really worth it?)

  williams and trophy
williams lumps respond well to minor modificatons, in my experience.

set of cams, pullies, bit of head/valve work and a re-map will have u pushing 180 easy.

see stan for cams/pullies/work.

try using www.williamsclio.co.uk youl probably get advice more specific to your needs there than here tbh.

throttle bodies do give a good hike in power, and sound the nuts...but again it depends on what u wanna use ur car for, e.g evryday driver, track day toy, bit of both, mods done will depend on that really
