Oh. Is that from eBay? Bit awkward but try and reverse the transaction. Have you heard the term "fits like a 6 fingered glove"? Sorry :(

It's an aftermarket exhaust manifold, 4-2-1 with a 2.5" bore. It's made out of stainless steel and looks well made. I've seen cheap stainless steel turbo manifolds crack and for that matter expensive stainless steel turbo manifolds crack on Rb26 engines (my hubby's got an R32 GTR).....but never heard of exhaust manifolds on NA cars cracking. Have any of you guys bought these manifolds off eBay and what is your experience of them?

Do a search on here for toyosports and you'll see why I've not bought one. I went for a genuine 182 manifold. And it makes no difference in day to day driving. Or track driving. Couple of bhp on the rolling road if that sort of thing bothers you.

Not worth removing your subframe or engine to fit.

Afaik the standard 182 one is the one to fit and even then would only be worth doing if you had the engine out etc or had a broken one.

As said get your money back before you waste any time and money on that.

You only need to drop the frame, not totally remove it. Or you can drag the engine forward out the way, you dont need to do both.

Or if you have the head off it will slide straight in, I changed to a 182 one when doing the valves after a belt went and it was easy without the head on.

if its a toyosport it will be a replica of a reputable manifold.
toyosports are a good fit and decent quality from my experience (never had one for clio mind) they always have smooth bends, decent welds and the 6 i have fitted have always been a perfect fit.
Though, they are made from cheap stainless. I would expect the decat tube will look pretty rough within a couple months.

Often, you do get what you pay for, but im always a little surprised by how much people dislike the toyosport stuff, and how often the people taking a dislike have never even seen one, let alone fitted one (mainly a saxP dig) and just winge about them, presumable becuase they paid 4x the price for a piper/supersprint that does the same job.

P.S send it back if you can...

The 182 standard one is very well made and NEVER cracks, so seems silly risking another one that may or may not be ok.

Especially when people are selling genuine ones for less than that shiny piece of of s**t on the first page! Talking of which I do have one, if it doesn't sell it will go on my ph1 when the time is right/the engine comes out :) only thing I like about the 182 manifold is the ease to change the cat!

While toyosports may use cheap shite, I'd rather pay £180 for an exhaust that cracks, instead of £600+ for a milltek that cracks.

Ah my mistake... I just assumed that an exhaust manifold had something to do with exhausts.

Seperate things

Manifold -> Cat/decat -> Exhaust

But I agree with your principle, that at least if its cheap and fails you expect it, expensive and still fails is dissapointing, wether that be a manifold or an exhaust or an ecu for that matter.

So what do the individual bits do that's different?

Manifold bolts to the head and its design is the main decided in how well the gasses from the different cylinders merge together, timing of pulses etc.

Cat is purely for emissions, and exhausts job is to try and minimise noise with as little impact on gas speed and gas flow as possible.

Certainly all part of the same machine, but subtley different jobs.

Timing of pulses? I thought all the gasses were forced out under the back pressure?

Each cylinder fires in turn, and you get pulses of pressure, how these pulses are timed (as dictated by length of each runner) makes a difference in where in the rev range the manifold is optimised for.

Its not just a smooth flow of gas, put your hand a couple inches from your exhaust and even after the smoothing effect of the manifold and exhaust you will still feel it pulsing.

that makes more sense.

I did look at these when I did my conversion.
Went for a genuine 182 one instead though.

Oh sorry, yeah, I was confusing there, I didn't re-read it and thought I had mentioned getting a 182 manifold in there.

The manifold will do its job, it will look pretty and will fit fine im almost certain. The company has been around long enough; if they were as bad as people make out the company would have gone under ages ago, simple capitalistic principles. BUT, a 182 manifold, the one designed by a team with many many cheques to throw about will be the better call.

If what you are saying is true, how come techniclutch are STILL in business?
