WRONG. They should have phoned police as soon as the accident happened. A police report is what everyone should have after an accident.
This is incorrect. I called 101 and they asked me a few questions like if anyone was hurt, damage to fixed properties (i.e. lamp posts), or if there was oil/debris on the road. as the answer to all of them was no, then the said the police didn't need to know and didn't even take my details.
Anyway, I phone the insurance today and they are sorting it out. I'm not claiming for my car as it appears to be only cosmetic (I will take a closer look next week, but it drives all ok and handling feels fine so I think its all ok). Unfortunately it appears that the insurance have deemed it as my fault due to the fact I pulled out onto him whilst he was overtaking, which is probably correct. Before the flaming starts, I
did check my mirrors and didn't see him before pulling out. I think maybe he was the going very fast from the back of the line of cars that I was near the front of, and crept up on me faster than my mind must have anticipated when I looked in my mirror (perhaps I thought he was going to pull in further back the line and thus disregarded him?) Anyway, irrelevant. It was a accident/mistake, my first in 7 years of driving and hopefully my last! All parties were ok and that's the main thing. A5 seems to have come off much worse than the clio for some reason though, not what I expected from German build strength vs French.
