Just had my alloys refurbed & powder coated

  Clio 172 Flamer
My alloys were in desperate need of a refurb, & i was thinking of doing it myself. But when i priced up all the materials and the time it was going to take i thought otherwise :rasp: Did some ringing around about Sandblasting & powdercoating, & managed to find a local company in Poole. Powder Tec Sandbalsted, filled, primed & powder coated in my choice of colour that was in stock for £130. Just thought i would share the results with you, enjoy!

I was thinking about that, any suggestions?. The guy who did them said to allow a week to fully harden and dry with air first before fitting

Thanks for the comments, i have had them finished in grey aluminium satin, which is a 70% gloss. Or so it said on the tin :D will put a picture up when fitted ;)

Do you know if they can do the centre caps to match the refurbed wheels?

I will be picking the centre caps up on monday, unfortunatly they didnt get a chance to do them this week. Hope they will finish the wheels off :D

Thats good I've got standard 172 wheels so matching centre caps is must for me. Another question, will they remove/refit tyres as well?

excellent job, I want to get mine done in the Poole area, but would prefer it if I could just drop the car off and then pick it up all done!

when i got my wheels coated i let them harden for a fortnight, then applied over a month several layers of AG extra gloss potection, and then few coats of colinite wax. and mine have always been good to clean :D

Bang for buck! ! !

They look splendid... powdercoat is so more durable then 2K Paint!
Being plastic ie. more forgiving.

Baking process also helps in duration.

IF you want your wheels powdercoated at which ever company; don't forget to ask about the 'gloss' finish you want!

Otherwise they might end up a bit orange peel.

It's a constant line/process with various parts, even construction which don't need that of a gloss finish, just protection.

look like they've done a bloody good job, amazing for £130.
What colour is it as it looks slightly 'sandy' in the the photo's?

They'll be reet chuck 'em on!

Can get my wheels blasted and powdercoated for £80! :rasp: Perfect job and tbh I just get them redone another colour every year. So couldn't care less about any minor chips in them.

These so called wheel "specialists" just do the same as any other blaster or coater but charge a fortune for it! My guy says he'll do any wheels from about 13" upto 26" (if you can find any that big!) for the same price. Recently did some motorbike wheels, about 10" and they were £30 for two, blasted and coated!

Here's the last ones they did.

^^ Very true. There is a powder coating place next door to my house who would do my wheels for peanuts compared to a wheel refurbishment company, the only difference being is that they can not sort out the nicks and chips on the rims and spokes that have been picked up (not by myself).. thus leaving the only option for most to take them to a pro who will sort these imperfections.. Although once sorted I guess using a powder coating company to change the colour willy nilly is a good idea, one thing I was considering doing if I ever got bored of my wheels..
